Beanstalk Kindergarten – immediate morning Kindy for 3 and 4 year olds

Hi mums

Some of our members have or have had children at Beanstalk Kindergarten in Tawa. It’s a private kindy which offers morning sessions for 3 and 4 year olds, up to 5 days a week.

They have immediate places for 3 and 4 year olds so have asked Mums In The City to let our subscribers know.

We wouldn’t endorse any childcare which we personally weren’t pleased with and are happy to recommend this great kindy. We know lots of ‘beanies’ attending or who’ve already graduated.

For a casual, no-obligation visit at any time, please contact Tracey on administrator@beanstalk.org.nz. For their admin purposes, please say you were recommended by Mums In The City.

September event – Meditation for Mums

meditation

Our (first) September event will be Meditation for Mums, with ‘Heal Your Life’ practitioner, Camilla Watson. This will be held on Thursday 2 September 7pm – 9pm in The Trust Room, Johnsonville Community Centre. The cost is just $3 to help us cover venue hire.

This two-hour seminar will teach mums some techniques for dealing with stress, switching off and taking the mind to a peaceful place. Relaxation, concentration, mindfulness … aaahhhhhh

The session will conclude with nibbles, drinks and a chance to socialise before we move onto the second part of the evening, Krazy Karaoke Party Nite, including your headbanging favourites, Dancing Queen and I will Survive (last person out at 2am – turn off the lights).

For more information on Camilla and her upcoming courses, please visit Heal Your Life

Thank you for supporting us at the Women’s Expo

Thank you to all the individuals and companies who helped us put our stand together in two short weeks. We went from not even owning a tablecloth to showcasing our little community group to thousands of women.

I know we’ll forget to thank some people, but we received wonderful support from:

(This is a long list – grab yourselves a cuppa)

  • Kanissa Bailey – who donated the most stunning cake – had to be seen to be believed
  • Philip from Whittakers – Their chocolate giveaways caused lots of oohs and aahs – and that was just the men.
  • Mike from www.dailydo.co.nz – mad deals for things to do in Wellington
  • Tracey from www.workoutrightnow.co.nz  - Online gym for mums
  • Jayne from Worldwear  - UK clothes store in Wellington

  • Southern Cross Bar and Restaurant for a voucher – Mums In The City’s official city headquarters (try the vegetarian breakfast!).
  • Susan James of Tickle Monster Jewellery who was up all night making beautiful jewellery but we forgot to include it in the raffle (next time, Susan!)
  • Sarak Hair Salon, for their prize of a voucher and for being a good friend at the expo
  • Hampton Print, Newlands for helping us prepare our flyers
  • Andrew of Citylife Herald who coaxed us into taking a pic – we don’t normally do paparazzi – too shy and not at all attention – seeking.
  • Broni, Kirsty, Penny, Mika, Elle, Celeste, Janice, Sue and Jenny for giving up their weekend to help us man the stall. And all those who wanted to be there but had kids/husbands with manflu.
  • Brendon of Underground Marketing who’s still trying to wangle a cool prize from one of his clients – even though the expo’s over, he’s still championing our cause. Go Brendon!
  • Julz Darroch for providing funny fitness advice handouts
  • Last but not least, all the husbands and kids who didn’t see their wives/mums for the last couple of weeks while we hacked away at sequins and glittery props till the early hours.

Wow, when you put it like that, what a bunch of great people *wipes eyes* and what an amazing team effort. Gotta love Wellington!

Zoe’s favourite quotes – Janet Street-Porter

janet

Before I get out of bed, I also say things like ‘Put that flamin’ kettle on’ and ‘Wake me up when you leave for work, leave some cornflakes out’ and ‘Why me?’ and “Please leave Mummy’s glasses alone – give me my glasses back. STOP THAT CHILD!’  and ‘I’d give my right arm for a lie-in *snorrrrrre*

Let’s just say I’m not a people person until I’ve had a coffee ….

Thanks to Jill Creighton for whipping up another design.
